Testimonials
The staff at The Alamo Livingood Center is absolutely one of a kind. They embody everything that you could hope for going into treatment: love, a deep passion to help, understanding hearts, compassion, patience, kindness, guidance, dependability and so much more. I was assigned the best case managers I could ever ask for. They were always there for me when I had a question or just needed to talk about something no matter what time of the day or night it was. Both of them kept a comfortable balance of being able to laugh and getting down into the serious stuff in group.
Dr. Alamo is truly 1 in a billion. He’s so knowledgeable in so many different areas and helped me through all my mental health issues—including my crippling anxiety and self-doubt, which in turn helped me get back into college on a path to my dream career. He has such a huge heart and his personality is so loveable and infectious that it makes you feel so comfortable talking to him about absolutely anything under the sun that’s concerning you.
Everyone there makes you feel comfortable knowing their trustworthy. Kate is hands down the most incredible woman I have ever met in my entire life. The way that she is willing to go out of her way to help you is something that blows my mind away to this very day. Nobody in my entire life has made me feel more safe, confident in my ability to recover, and like everything was going to be okay than she did (and still does) every single day.
I know that I can talk to her about anything and she will not judge me, make me feel any less about myself, or turn me in the wrong direction no matter what it is I come to her about. She’s also the smartest woman I have ever met in this part of my life and has helped me through things inside myself that I never thought would stop hurting.
What’s so special about the staff at The Alamo Livingood Center is that if you have a problem you can go to anybody you feel comfortable with because they all have an open door policy. It brings me to tears to think about Kate and The Alamo Livingood Center because I had completely given up on life and was praying every night to not wake up the next day, but everyone who’s a part of the treatment team there at The Alamo Livingood Center —especially Kate—restored a desire to live in a girl that was already dead inside. Thanks to my time at The Alamo Livingood Center I’ll be finishing college in 2 years and starting the career of my dreams, with the man of my dreams. I have a future that I’m looking forward to and my past no longer haunts me. The Alamo Livingood Center healed all of my wounds and made me stronger. I would trust them with anyone in my family and anyone else in the world for that matter. I wouldn’t go turn anywhere else because The Alamo Livingood Center is treatment at it’s finest given by an extremely intelligent team that couldn’t be more passionate about what they do. – S.B.
I’ve been with Kate Livingood and Jesuel Alamo for over two years now. They have changed my life completely around for the better. This is not just a treatment center, they have given me a family. They do not make you feel like a number and truly give you the one on one personal care you deserve. I can honestly say I truly love everyone at The Alamo Livingood Center. Because of them I feel like I have meaning in my life again. Thank you guys from the bottom of my heart.

My experience at The Alamo Livingood Center was one that will remain in my heart for a long time. I am forever indebted to the staff and owner of The Alamo Livingood Center because being there is what finally saved my life after 5 years of pure misery and torture. Not only did I get the necessary help, support and guidance that I needed for my recovery while attending the IOP program at The Alamo Livingood Center , but I also felt safer, more loved and more genuinely cared for than I ever have at a rehab center.
Unlike other places I have been through in the past, the groups I attended at The Alamo Livingood Center were actually helpful because they were tailored to the requests and needs of every single client individually—I walked out of each different group everyday feeling like I always gained something new from them. The projects that were assigned (e.g. my personal timeline, relationship timeline, 7 most influential people, etc.) to complete and present in group actually felt like they were ways that I could get deeper insight into myself and my underlying problems behind my addiction rather than just excessive busywork to keep us all occupied like I’ve had to do at previous rehabs.
The outings on Fridays were ALWAYS amazing because we, as clients, got to brainstorm things to do and the pick as a group something that everyone collectively was excited to do; instead of being forced to do things that the higher ups (who didn’t even attend the outings) would choose, like at the most recent treatment center I suffered at before discovering The Alamo Livingood Center.
Another aspect that I found unique to The Alamo Livingood Center and absolutely adored and found extremely helpful was when Kate had me and my parents each do the same assignment and then present it to each other in a private meeting with me, my parents and Kate herself. That assignment was one of the most influential on my recovery but never had such an option anywhere else, so for her to do that was huge to me.
One thing that stood out to me the most was the size difference of The Alamo Livingood Center, it made it very obvious to me that The Alamo Livingood Center was smaller because they’re more focused on actually helping you recover and thrive by any means possible. Other places I’ve been to were so huge and had so many clients that you couldn’t even get a question answered let alone the help you actually need to beat things as serious as addiction and other mental health issues.
It seems as if other treatment centers were focused on the number of insurance policies they were making money off of instead of the welfare of their clients. While on the other hand, The Alamo Livingood Center makes you feel like a part of a family you could depend on for anything you need for your own personal recovery journey. The individualization of the help given (your own personal treatment plan as well as the group treatment) was something I’ll always cherish because I finally got a chance to face inner demons inside me that had been badly hurting and holding me back, and had been brushed off or ignored completely by every other place I’d been to—eventually leading me to relapse.
What made it easy to feel comfortable initially when I first arrived at The Alamo Livingood Center and was doing intake was that everyone on the staff actually speaks to and treats you like the adult you are. They don’t speak down to you or give childish punitive punishments to make sure you feel inferior. Past places I’ve attended made me scared to even interact with other clients for fear of being sent to a “behavioral detox,” making me spend my days in anxiety instead of healing. – S.B.
